HI,
I lived in a house on main street that was owned by the church, cir 1967. (my family rented it from the church). The house was originally owned by the Able family. The house and church and another house where torn down in the early 1970′s I believe (due to their structural unstableness in the event of an earthquake.)
The rebuilt church has the cross and stained glass windows from the old church and maybe the alter. On the stained glass windows are dedications of deceased loved ones, all dating back to the 1880′s.
Are there any pictures of this house around? Does anyone have any information about the Able family and the house next to it.
Thanks,
Robert Emanuel
Hi all at Milpitas Historical Society,
I thought you would like to know about a new local history book, The Last of the Prune Pickers: A Pre-Silicon Valley Story. The book came out in December and we have already ordered a re-print. You can see a preview of it at http://www.2timothypublishing.com ; click on Prune Pickers.
